South African production company Oxyg3n Media, makers of highly anticipated TV series such as Married at First Sight SA (for Lifetime channel) and Brent Owens Extreme, Authentic, Unwrapped (for Discovery), is pleased to announce it will begin production of a new 10-part food television series – A Taste of South Africa – early in the new year.
A Taste of South Africa will follow top British chef Matt Tebbutt as he travels across the country discovering and exploring the diversity and ﬂavour of local foods that the southern tip of Africa has to offer. In the course of his journey, Tebbutt will sample regional specialties and uncover and savour food and drink rich with traditional heritage and culture. With his anthropological background, Tebbutt will peel back the history of South African cuisine from its historic beginnings up until today, speaking to, and cooking with, locals and uncovering fascinating food stories. The series will appeal to both food lovers and travel buffs and promises to be informative and humorous and replete with the charm that Tebbutt so readily provides.

A Taste of South Africa will start shooting in early January and will be broadcast in the second half of 2017 on a DStv channel still to be announced.
